Shame is good for you

My local writers' group, Southern Magic, threw me a sweet celebration on Saturday for my RITA final with Going Too Far. You can see the pics at the MTV Books Blog.

Now it's back to work, and I mean it this time. Last month I tried to get a lot of work done on my MTV Books release for next year, and I banded together with some friends so we could keep tabs on each other. But I really think I need a more public shame in order to be productive.

Therefore, I am pledging to write 40,000 words on this book in April, with 30,000 of those before my next Southern Magic meeting on April 24. (NaNoWriMo is 50,000 words in a month, but I've got page proofs for Forget You coming any minute now, and I need some wiggle room.)

Are you with me? Just pledge in the comments to write a certain amount, and come back and comment during April to report on your progress. I will be happy to celebrate with you on the good days and publicly shame encourage you on the bad days, if you will do the same for me.
